Role Objective

On behalf of our client, a reputable and fast-growing law firm, we are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Litigator Advocate to join their dispute resolution team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling litigation matters from inception to conclusion, including case assessment, strategy development, court representation, client advisory, negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution processes.

This role is ideal for a confident advocate who thrives in a dynamic legal environment, possesses strong courtroom presence, and can effectively manage complex legal disputes while delivering practical solutions for clients.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Manage litigation files from initial client consultation through trial, judgment, and appeal where necessary.
  • Assess the viability of potential claims and defenses through legal research, fact analysis, and client interviews.
  • Develop and implement litigation strategies tailored to client objectives and case circumstances.
  • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, affidavits, submissions, witness statements, and other court documents.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analyze statutes, regulations, case law, and judicial precedents.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, hearings, mentions, mediations, arbitrations, tribunals, and other dispute resolution forums.
  • Handle witness preparation, examinations, cross-examinations, and evidence presentation during hearings and trials.
  • Manage discovery and due diligence processes, including reviewing documentation, gathering evidence, and preparing case materials.
  • Engage in settlement negotiations and draft settlement agreements to facilitate efficient dispute resolution.
  • Provide legal opinions, risk assessments, and practical advice to clients on contentious legal matters.
  • Liaise and negotiate with opposing counsel, regulators, court officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor litigation timelines, court schedules, and filing deadlines to ensure procedural compliance.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients by providing updates on case developments and managing expectations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on complex disputes and contribute to the growth and performance of the litigation practice.
  • Undertake any other legal assignments as may be required by the firm.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree with an Upper Second-Class Honours from a recognized university.
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate.
  • Demonstrated experience handling civil and commercial litigation matters.
  • Exceptional legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Strong advocacy and courtroom representation abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and strategic problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
  • High levels of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build lasting client relationships.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and capable of working independently under pressure.

Experience needed

Minimum of three (3) years' post-admission experience in active litigation practice.

Experience in personal injury, insurance defense, or automobile liability claims will be an added advantage.
