JOB DETAILS:
Role summary
Overall, the Legal Coordinator will be expected to provide guidance, legal advice, and support to the Senior leadership team and the organization at large. The overarching purpose of this position is to guarantee that the conservancy is legally protected and capable of carrying out its job successfully by creating and maintaining a viable legal framework for the organization.

Specific Roles include;

• Advises and guides the conservancy on a wide range of legal issues, including contracts, rules, and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Evaluate and prepare contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure that the conservancy's interests are protected and represented.
• Coordinate management of legal problems and the negotiation of settlements on the conservancy's behalf.
• Stay up to date on legal developments and changes in the legislation that may impact the conservancy.
• Represent the conservancy in legal proceedings such as administrative hearings or litigation in specific situations.
• Continuously and regularly educate conservancy employees on legal concerns and best practices in order to reduce legal risks and assure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Provide administrative support to the CEO by serving as the secretary during Board meetings, SLT meetings, maintaining key records that are the CEO’s responsibility by creating a centralized repository and following up with SLT members to ensure that key deliverables and agreed outputs are completed as per agreed timelines.

The person:
To be successful in this position, applicants must meet the following requirements;
• Bachelor's degree in Law, paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years post – graduate experience practicing law at least 2 of which must be in a similar (legal coordinator) role
• Must be a registered member of Law society of Kenya
• Demonstrable ability to collaborate with other departments, such as finance and operations, to support legal department initiatives and projects.
• Direct experience in assisting with the preparation, review, and management of contracts, including drafting and reviewing contract language, tracking contract status, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
• Experience working with management to manage compliance-related tasks, such as reviewing policies and procedures, monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements, and responding to legal inquiries and requests.
• Ability to Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including attorneys, clients, vendors, and regulators.
• Demonstrable experience collaborating with other departments to support departmental initiatives and projects.
• Proficiency with legal research tools and databases, as well as other relevant software and technology.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
