Our client, a boutique law firm with a strong focus on litigation and a presence in Mombasa, is seeking to recruit a driven and experienced Litigation Associate to strengthen their legal team. The successful candidate will be actively involved in handling diverse and high-value matters while supporting the firm’s litigation practice.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Draft, prepare, and file pleadings and other legal documents in courts and tribunals
  • Keep clients informed on case progress in a clear and understandable manner
  • Work closely with colleagues on complex and high-stakes litigation matters
  • Conduct legal research on statutes, case law, and precedents relevant to assigned matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate settlement agreements in the best interest of clients
  • Represent clients in court proceedings including hearings, applications, and trials
  • Interview clients, assess their legal needs, and provide appropriate legal guidance
  • Prepare legal opinions and offer technical legal advice
  • Conduct due diligence in relation to ongoing litigation matters
  • Review and draft a wide range of legal documentation
  • Manage court deadlines, filings, and schedules efficiently
  • Handle witness examination, including cross-examinations where necessary
  • Engage opposing counsel in negotiations and correspondence to resolve disputes
  • Support billing processes, including fee tracking and collections
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Contribute to the growth and performance of the litigation department
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • One (1) year Post admission experience in a busy law firm.
  • An upper 2nd Bachelors of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
  • A valid practicing certificate.
