Purpose of the Position

Safely load/offload and transfer stocks as per Supervisor/Clerk instruction using a forklift.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure daily briefing and debriefing is done before commencing work.
  • Ensure safe handling of the forklift.
  • Responsible for daily routine forklift inspection/checklist before commencing work.
  • Report any damage on the forklift to the workshop manager.
  • Maintain a maintenance card for the forklift.
  • Operate Crane under general supervision and signals from the helper.
  • Inspect the Crane daily for safety issues. Check out for any visible defects before commencing work.
  • Ensure safe handling of the Crane.
  • Complete job tickets, service quality summaries and all paperwork required.
  • Responsible for put away, transfers, loading, offloading, stacking and de-stacking of stocks using the forklift.
  • Responsible for warehouse arrangement.
  • Ensure efficient and effective utilisation of the forklift/crane and in a safe manner.
  • Ensure timely reporting of any incident affecting the forklift/crane to the supervisor/manager.
  • You may be required to undertake other duties as necessitated by business needs that may not be part of the responsibilities outlined in this role profile.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Have a minimum of KCSE.
  • Hold a valid MHE or forklift operator certificate.
  • Have at least one year of relevant work experience.
  • Must understand safe operation and load handling procedures.
  • Valid forklift driving license
  • OSH or First Aid training is an added advantage.
  • Must be physically fit and safety conscious.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
