Background

The Severin Sea Lodge is located at Bamburi Beach directly at the Indian Ocean and affectionately built in a traditional African style.

Role Context

In this role you keep the camp running safely and quietly: power, water, guest areas, and plant stay reliable in a remote bush setting. You lead the maintenance team, fix issues before guests feel them, and work closely with Operations, Housekeeping, and F&B. This is a live-in role with rotational leave.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily maintenance so guest areas, plant, and camp infrastructure stay reliable.
• Plan and follow a preventive maintenance routine; reduce recurring breakdowns.
• Brief, coach, and allocate technicians; keep the workshop organised and the team fully occupied.
• Respond quickly to job requests, especially guest-facing faults, and close them with clear follow-through.
• Keep power, water, and backup systems available around the clock.
• Coordinate with other departments so repairs do not disrupt the guest stay.
• Protect tools, stock, and company property; keep records and end-of-shift reporting accurate.
• Enforce safety, hygiene, and a professional presence in guest areas.

Qualifications and Requirements

• At least 3 years in hotel, lodge, or safari-camp maintenance, including at least 1 year supervising technicians.
• Proven ability to run a full maintenance shift and a preventive maintenance plan.
• Hands-on skill across electrical, plumbing, and general building/plant maintenance, including generators.
• Fluent English, spoken and written.
• Willing to live in at camp, work rotating shifts (including weekends, public holidays, and call-outs), and follow a rotational leave pattern.
• Calm under pressure, guest-first, and reliable on standards, safety, and integrity.

Nice to have

• Safari camp or luxury lodge experience; solar / PV systems; vehicle maintenance; a relevant trade certificate or diploma.
