SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Provide antenatal care, including history- taking, vital monitoring, fetal assessment (palpation, FHR), and administering supplements/immunizations.
  • Assess onset and progress of labor, conduct safe vaginal examinations, and monitor fetal well-being during labor.
  • Assist with normal vaginal deliveries, provide perineal support, and perform immediate newborn care (drying, APGAR, cord clamping). Administer oxytocin for active management of the third stage of labor.
  • Monitor maternal postnatal vitals, uterine involution, vaginal bleeding, and care for episiotomies/tears.
  • Support breastfeeding initiation and educate mothers on self-care, newborn care, and family planning.
  • Perform neonatal resuscitation (bag and mask ventilation) and manage IV access/fluids in maternal shock.
  • Recognize, escalate, and assist in preparing for obstetric emergencies like eclampsia and emergency C-sections.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Midwifery.
  • Valid nursing license/registration from a recognised institution.
  • Proven hands-on maternity care experience (antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively in emergencies.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Midwifery. Valid nursing license/registration from a recognised institution. Proven hands-on maternity care experience (antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal). Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient education skills. Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively in emergencies.
