Our client in the engineering industry is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the planning, design, and execution of mechanical systems within both industrial and building construction projects. This role combines high-level strategic input with hands-on engineering execution, ensuring that all mechanical systems ranging from HVAC and plumbing to fire suppression and process piping are designed, installed, and maintained to the highest technical and safety standards. The position also supports the company’s long-term engineering innovation, sustainability, and operational efficiency objectives.

Strategic Engineering & Design Lead the conceptual and detailed design of mechanical systems for construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, compressed air, and water supply systems. Ensure all designs align with project specifications, regulatory standards, sustainability goals, and client requirements. Develop mechanical engineering strategies that improve system performance, reduce energy consumption, and enhance lifecycle value. Project Management & Execution Oversee mechanical aspects of building and industrial projects from design through commissioning and handover. Prepare and review mechanical BOQs, specifications, and tender documents, and support technical evaluations during the procurement stage. Supervise on-site mechanical works, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, quality standards, and safety protocols. Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, and electrical engineers to ensure full integration of mechanical systems within construction designs. Systems Analysis & Optimization Conduct load calculations, fluid flow analyses, duct sizing, and equipment selection for HVAC and plumbing systems. Use simulation and modeling tools (e.g., AutoCAD MEP, Revit, or SolidWorks) to verify designs and optimize system efficiency. Perform energy audits and propose efficiency improvements in existing mechanical systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP, Revit, SolidWorks, and simulation tools (e.g., HAP, ANSYS). Sound understanding of mechanical codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, BS, ISO, or local equivalents). Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills. Registered or eligible for registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree is an added advantage). Minimum 3-4 years of experience in mechanical design, construction engineering, or building services. Demonstrated experience in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical systems installation within construction environments.
