Murang’a County is one of the five counties in the Central region of the Republic of Kenya. It is bordered to the North by Nyeri, to the South by Kiambu, to the West by Nyandarua and to the East by Kirinyaga, Embu and Machakos counties.
Responsibilities or duties,
The Medical Officer shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:
- Attending to patients in clerking, diagnoses, management and follow up;
- Performing medical and surgical procedures;
- Responding to emergencies and disasters;
- Providing health education;
- Maintaining medical records, health information and data;
- Participating in management of medicines, medical instruments and Equipment
- Counselling patients and relatives on diagnosis and bereavement;
- Teaching and coaching medical students, Medical Officer Interns, Nursing students and Interns, Clinical Officer students and interns;
- Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications or requirements
- Be a Kenyan citizen
- Degree from a University recognized in Kenya in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., & ChB.)
- Have completed 12 months internship period;
- Registered as a Medical Practitioner by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
- Must have a Valid Practicing License
- Be of acceptable moral and professional standing;
- Certificate in computer application skills will be an added advantage.
Experience needed,
- Demonstrable skills and experience in various clinical areas with at least three (3) years’ experience.
