Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Pursuant to Section 26 (1) (b) and (3) of the Energy Act, 2019, a person to be appointed as a Member of Energy and Petroleum Tribunal must possess the following qualifications.

  • Hold a law degree from a recognized university,
  • Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya,
  • Have knowledge and experience in law, petroleum, and energy
  • Must not be in the employment of the Government, Agency, or the Authority
  • Must be a citizen of Kenya;
  • Be a member of the relevant professional association in good standing
  • Qualification and experience in alternative dispute resolution will be an added advantage.
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.
  • Hold a law degree from a recognized university,
  • Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya,
  • Have knowledge and experience in law, petroleum, and energy
  • Must not be in the employment of the Government, Agency, or the Authority
  • Must be a citizen of Kenya;
  • Be a member of the relevant professional association in good standing
  • Qualification and experience in alternative dispute resolution will be an added advantage.
