Our client, a growing organisation with a fleet of heavy commercial vehicles, is seeking to recruit a highly experienced and hands-on Motor Vehicle / Automotive Mechanic.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing and repairing heavy commercial vehicles to ensure optimal performance, safety and minimal operational downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy commercial vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults and undertake appropriate repairs.
  • Service and maintain diesel engines and related vehicle systems.
  • Inspect vehicles regularly and identify potential mechanical problems before breakdowns occur.
  • Troubleshoot and repair vehicle electrical systems.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic systems and components.
  • Conduct routine servicing, inspections and maintenance as scheduled.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns and carry out necessary repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure tools, equipment and workshop facilities are properly maintained.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures and maintenance standards.
  • Provide technical recommendations on vehicle repairs and maintenance requirements.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Automotive Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years hands-on experience in motor vehicle/automotive mechanics, preferably involving heavy commercial vehicles.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems and automotive electrical systems.
  • Proven ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs independently.
  • Experience working with Chinese-manufactured heavy commercial vehicles, particularly HOWO trucks, is an added advantage.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good analytical and diagnostic abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High level of integrity, reliability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a demanding operational environment.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a hands-on mechanic who can independently diagnose problems, carry out repairs and keep heavy commercial vehicles operational.

If you have substantial experience working on heavy-duty vehicles and are confident handling diesel, hydraulic and electrical systems, this opportunity may be a good fit for you.
