Our client, a growing organisation with a fleet of heavy commercial vehicles, is seeking to recruit a highly experienced and hands-on Motor Vehicle / Automotive Mechanic.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing and repairing heavy commercial vehicles to ensure optimal performance, safety and minimal operational downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy commercial vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults and undertake appropriate repairs.
- Service and maintain diesel engines and related vehicle systems.
- Inspect vehicles regularly and identify potential mechanical problems before breakdowns occur.
- Troubleshoot and repair vehicle electrical systems.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic systems and components.
- Conduct routine servicing, inspections and maintenance as scheduled.
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns and carry out necessary repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing and maintenance activities.
- Ensure tools, equipment and workshop facilities are properly maintained.
- Follow appropriate safety procedures and maintenance standards.
- Provide technical recommendations on vehicle repairs and maintenance requirements.
Requirements
- Diploma in Automotive Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years hands-on experience in motor vehicle/automotive mechanics, preferably involving heavy commercial vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems and automotive electrical systems.
- Proven ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs independently.
- Experience working with Chinese-manufactured heavy commercial vehicles, particularly HOWO trucks, is an added advantage.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good analytical and diagnostic abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- High level of integrity, reliability and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a demanding operational environment.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a hands-on mechanic who can independently diagnose problems, carry out repairs and keep heavy commercial vehicles operational.
If you have substantial experience working on heavy-duty vehicles and are confident handling diesel, hydraulic and electrical systems, this opportunity may be a good fit for you.
