Responsibilities or duties

You are responsible for planning and providing medical and nursing care to patients in the school clinic in line with the mission, vision and strategic objectives of the organization as well as best practice in healthcare.

  • Provide appropriate healthcare services including integrated management of childhood illness.
  • Ensure an outstanding client experience through effective triage, nursing care planning, implementation of nursing interventions, and monitoring and evaluation of patient outcomes.
  • Provide immunization and applicable reproductive health services.
  • Provide health education and counseling to patients and community on identified health needs.
  • Maintain clinic policies, standards and procedures of Nursing Care.
  • Maintaining and observe infection control measures for staff as well as other patients’ well-being.
  • Achieve fiscal prudence by utilizing available resources, using medical equipment correctly and promptly billing for services offered where applicable. Uphold statutory regulations as required by the nursing profession and laws of Kenya.
  • Safeguard all confidential hospital and patient information and property.
  • Participate in hospital activities or research, audits, medical camps/ outreaches Coordinate and communicate with management and other key stakeholders including sponsors and donors in ensuring seamless execution of medical campaigns and camps when required.
  • Work and network with other likeminded groups and organizations to enrich project programs and the community at large.
  • Attend relevant meetings and workshops on health issues on behalf of the clinic and community when called upon.
  • Adhere to the basic staff norms as per the Ministry of Health Standards and Norms quoted in the Social Health Insurance (General) Regulations, 2024. Implement an established, acceptable mode of referral Prepare and submit reports to management and relevant government departments.
  • Execute other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Minimum Requirements

  • Be a Holder of a Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) or equivalent from an institution recognized in Kenya. MUST be a mature born-again Christian with a supporting verifiable testimony.
  • Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and hold a Valid Nursing Practice License.
  • Conversant with public children’s code, regulations and rights
  • Have thorough knowledge and understanding of government policy on medical operations in Kenya
  • Good organizational skills, an enthusiastic approach to work, ability to perform under minimum supervision, pressure and demanding circumstances Able to effectively identify priorities and work under pressure for meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (internal and external) – English and Kiswahili Have problem-solving, conflict resolution and crisis management skills.
  • MUST be flexible, self-motivated, hardworking and a team player
  • Good level of computer proficiency on MS Office, Internet, Email and social media.
  • Certificate of Good Conduct from relevant government authority
  • Ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others
  • Desire for personal development, improvement and learning.

Experience needed

  • At least 1 year of relevant all-round work experience in a recognized medical or child welfare institution.
  • Experience in a school setting will be a distinct advantage.

  • Training in HIV/AIDS care and counseling will be an added advantage
  • An understanding of the social dynamics of the community, being conversant with the local language and the general geographical area will be an added advantage.
