Background

The Mirema dream started off way back in 1997 when a couple called for a family meeting to share their desire to start a school. Mirema School, a Christian based primary school offering the 2.6.6.3/8.4.4 curriculum, International British Curriculum & Special Needs Curriculum.

We are a Christian school in the education sector looking to recruit an additional Occupational Therapist. He/She will be responsible for conducting physical assessments of children, developing and following doctor-prescribed treatment plans, assessing the surrounding classroom environment and developing additional physical rehabilitation programs.

Responsibilities

  • Learner Assessment
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify learners' physical, emotional, developmental or social challenges.
  • Evaluate learners' home and/or work environments to determine potential barriers to independence.
  • Treatment Planning
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on learner assessments and goals.
  • Collaborate with learners, families, caregivers and interdisciplinary teams to set realistic, measurable outcomes.
  • Therapeutic Interventions
  • Design and implement therapeutic activities to improve learners' abilities in daily living and working.
  • Use adaptive tools and techniques to assist learners in maximizing functional independence.
  • Provide rehabilitative exercises and education on energy conservation and joint protection.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Monitor learners' progress and adapt treatment plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of treatment sessions, progress notes, and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
  • Valid registration and practicing license with the Kenya Occupational Therapists Association (KOTA).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, preferably in a school, pediatric or rehabilitation setting.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
