Background
The company opened its first manufacturing facility in Mombasa, Kenya, in 1962, rapidly widening its reach to include further countries in East Africa, and then Southern Africa. In 2003, all operating companies were reversed into the current holding company called Safal Investments Mauritius Limited and conduct its business across Africa as the Safal Group.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Process Control
- Operate and monitor mill equipment in accordance with approved operating procedures.
- Monitor process conditions and report abnormalities affecting production, quality or equipment performance.
- Prepare, load and process materials in accordance with established procedures and production requirements.
- Complete assigned production activities and maintain accurate production records and shift handovers.
Quality Management
- Comply with product specifications, quality standards and operating procedures.
- Identify and report quality defects, process deviations and non-conformances.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records to support traceability requirements.
Equipment Care & Housekeeping
- Conduct routine equipment checks and report abnormalities requiring attention.
- Support maintenance activities during planned maintenance and breakdown interventions.
- Maintain housekeeping standards within the work area in line with 6S requirements.
Safety, Health, Environment & Compliance
- Comply with HSEQ requirements, safe work procedures and LOTOTO requirements.
- Use prescribed PPE and maintain safe working practices within the assigned work area.
- Report hazards, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions promptly.
Reporting & Communication
- Maintain accurate operational records and provide timely communication on production, quality and equipment performance.
- Support the onboarding of new team members and share job-related knowledge as required.
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors and cross-functional teams to achieve operational objectives.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- KCSE.
- Government Grade Test II or Craft Certificate in a relevant Engineering discipline.
- Minimum one (1) year relevant experience in machine operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in Cold Rolling Mill operations or a similar production environment will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of 6S and Autonomous Maintenance will be an added advantage.
Competencies
- Knowledge of cold rolling processes and mill operations.
- Ability to identify and report operational abnormalities.
- Understanding of product quality requirements and process standards.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong safety awareness and operational discipline.
Computer Literacy
- Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel).
