Job Summary:

Metropolitan Hospital Nairobi is seeking qualified and experienced Perioperative Nurses to provide safe, high-quality nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. The role involves preparing the operating theatre, maintaining a sterile environment, assisting the surgical team, monitoring patients throughout the perioperative period, and ensuring compliance with professional, ethical, and infection prevention standards to promote positive surgical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities 

• Prepare and maintain the operating theatre for surgical procedures.
• Ensure a sterile environment and adherence to infection prevention protocols.
• Assist the surgical team during operations.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and condition throughout the perioperative period.
• Provide post-operative care and patient education.
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
• Ensure compliance with professional and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

• Higher Diploma or specialized training in Perioperative/Operating Theatre Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Registered Nurse (KRPN) with a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in an operating theatre or perioperative setting in a reputable healthcare facility.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques, infection prevention and control, surgical procedures, patient safety standards, and theatre equipment.
