Role Overview & Scope
The Procurement & Contracting Specialist will oversee commercial procurement processes, tender preparation, vendor negotiations, and contract administration for GIZ programs in Kenya. The role ensures all purchasing and contracting activities adhere strictly to national regulations, GIZ standard operating procedures, and donor compliance guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement Operations: Manage end-to-end procurement cycles for goods, consulting services, and commercial works.
- Tendering & Bidding: Prepare tender documentation, publish expressions of interest, manage technical/financial evaluations, and award contracts.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and finalize service contracts, local subsidies, and supply agreements while monitoring deliverable schedules.
- Vendor & Risk Management: Evaluate supplier performance, build vendor databases, and ensure transparent, audit-ready procurement records.
- Qualifications & Competencies
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS) are highly desirable.
Experience: Relevant practical experience in public or international procurement within international organizations or development agencies above 5 years
Skills: Expert knowledge of contract law, negotiation, inventory management, and digital procurement software systems.
