About the role

Apeiro, a subsidiary of Sirius International Holding, is seeking a Product Owner – Claims Ecosystem who is to be responsible for owning and prioritizing the product backlog for claims management products supporting healthcare reimbursement, adjudication, provider and payer workflows. The role ensures solutions meet business, customer, regulatory and operational requirements while maximizing value delivery.

What you'll do

  • Own, prioritize, and maintain the claims product backlog to ensure alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Gather and document requirements from providers, payers, operations teams, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and release plans.
  • Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, and other Agile product ceremonies.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect resolution, and production deployments.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Compliance, and external partners to deliver product enhancements.
  • Monitor product performance metrics and identify opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement.
  • Support integrations with Kenya's Health Information Exchange (HIE), claims engines, Point of Care systems, private insurers, payment platforms, and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, industry standards, and data privacy requirements.
  • Communicate product progress, delivery timelines, dependencies, and risks to stakeholders and leadership teams.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Product Manager.
  • Experience working with healthcare systems, digital health platforms, or health technology solutions.
  • Experience with claims processing, reimbursement models, and payer-provider workflows.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum practices, and product backlog management.
  • Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, Productboard, or similar product management tools.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience translating business needs into product requirements.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders within a fast-paced and regulated environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with healthcare claims management platforms or payer administration systems.
  • Familiarity with Kenya healthcare standards and ecosystems including SHA, HIE, EMRs, HMIS, and interoperability frameworks.
  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, CPT, and SNOMED CT.
  • Experience supporting integrations with insurers, providers, payment gateways, and third-party healthcare systems.
  • Exposure to healthcare regulations, data privacy requirements, and compliance frameworks applicable to digital health solutions.
  • Experience with API-driven products and system integrations.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), or SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager certification.
  • Experience using analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker for product performance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience supporting digital transformation initiatives within healthcare or insurance organizations.
  • Basic understanding of SQL, APIs, and technical architecture concepts to facilitate collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Experience working in multi-stakeholder environments involving healthcare providers, payers, regulators, and government institutions.
