Position Summary

The program manager provides technical and supervisory support for the implementation of interventions related to CGPP activities in both Kenya and Somalia, specifically focusing on technical areas of polio surveillance, routine immunization activities, polio vaccination campaigns, risk communication, community engagement, and Infectious disease detection, prevention and response including vaccine preventable and zoonotic diseases.

He/she will support M&E coordinator to ensure that the CGPP work is of the highest quality. As required, the program manager will work with the implementing NGO staff, headquarters-based and country stakeholders in both Kenya and Somalia.

He/She will meet regularly with CGPP HOA secretariat and CGPP HQ to disseminate information on project activities, learn about new developments within the polio and Global Health Security space and strengthen coordination with relevant partners and stakeholders.

Duties/ Responsibilities.

The CGPP Program Manager will be responsible for the following tasks:

Qualifications

Education

A degree in Public Health, Nursing, or other health related fields with at least 4-5 years' experience working in a public health surveillance system, routine immunization and outbreak response activities.

Skills and competencies.

Technical Communication Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication. Fluency in English is a requirement. Knowledge of the local language where CGPP works is an added advantage.

Strong copywriting, editing, and content development abilities to produce compelling, audience-focused materials for reports, newsletters, success stories, press releases and lesson learnt.

Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including Mailchimp, Canva and Adobe creative software

Strong knowledge of photography, videography, and graphic design including field-based photo/video collection, basic editing, and layout design for visibility materials.

Digital storytelling and content adaptation skills to translate technical or project data into clear, engaging, and human-centered narratives.

Familiarity with donor visibility requirements and branding guidelines eg Department of State, Gates foundation etc.

Surveillance And Data Management Skills

Good knowledge on polices and guidelines of public health surveillance, routine immunization and One Health Concept including field experience.

Good understanding on Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) concepts applied to communication activities such as ability to set and track communication indicators, collect audience feedback, and report on communication impact.

Ability to analyze program statistical records/data using available data analytical software's Stata, SPSS, QGIS/Arc GIS,

Proficiency in MS packages

Willingness to travel frequently to Northern Kenya and border regions of Somalia.

Core Competencies

Ability to interpret program information, policies and procedures into messages for varied audiences.

Strategic thinking, creativity, and attention to detail.

Ability to independently plan, organize and carry out work assignments; prepare fiscal, financial, programmatic and statistical reports.

Commitment to the program goal and objectives including transparency and accountability

  • Support CGPP annual workplans and budgets preparations for review by CGPP HOA secretariat and CGPP HQ as well as keep track of planned activities.
  • Oversee and facilitate the planning, implementation, and reporting of CGPP activities in both Kenya and Somalia
  • Represent CGPP at national outbreak preparedness and response planning activities for Polio and other infectious diseases.
  • Support the partners in the implementation of community-based disease surveillance systems for polio and other infectious diseases including other vaccine-preventable diseases and priority zoonotic diseases.
  • In coordination with other secretariat members, support the development of CGPP programmatic reports, including polio project report, GHS semiannual report, and Far-Reaching integrated delivery (FARID) project reports.
  • Prepare routine weekly/monthly/quarterly project progress updates and present to CGPP HQ and or with donors
  • Participate in monthly implementing partners meeting and provide project updates
  • In coordination with the M&E coordinator, ensure the collection and organization of CGPP data and information in accordance with DOS M&E Framework.
  • Participate in developing/reviewing the project log frame/ performance frameworks for evidence-based program decision and DOS reporting and detailed M&E implementation plans for CGPP in Kenya and Somalia.
  • In coordination with the communication coordinator, support the documentation of project best practices, lessons learned and success stories through bi-weekly bulletins, and quarterly newsletters.
  • Support in documentation and publication of project work in reputable scientific journals
  • Support the communication coordinator in the development, translation, proofreading and editing of information, education and communication documents as required.
  • Conduct quarterly and ad hoc field monitoring visits to all project areas i.e joint supportive supervision, polio SIA campaigns, data quality audits, training of frontline workers including healthcare workers, animal health assistants and community volunteers on CBS, RI and RCCE
  • Support documentation of field trip reports based on the activities mentioned above.
  • Support all evidence gathering activities including program evaluations, research activities, case studies and success stories
  • Track performance of planned activities, outputs, and project indicators to measure achievement and track progress towards intermediate results and overall program strategic objectives
  • Perform other duties as requested by the CGPP Director/Deputy Director
