Responsibilities or duties

She/he will provide individualized care to patients as per Kenya Counselling and Psychological Association guidelines.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Diploma in Psychology (Graduate degree level preferred)

Additional Training and certification in Psychology is an advantage

Strong written, verbal and communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to team with colleagues for the betterment of the institution

Adaptability, flexibility and the ability to do quality work under minimal supervision

Able to manage demands of a growing specialized medical rehabilitation center

Experience needed

At least 2 years’ experience as a Clinical Psychologist at a busy environment

Extensive experience in all aspects of customer relationship management

Any other provided details (e.g., benefits, work environment, team info, or additional notes)

Measures of Success

Excellent execution of assigned tasks with minimal supervision

Daily, weekly, Quarterly objectives as agreed with the Clinical Director

  • Carry out evaluation of psychological and mental health needs of patients, elaborate a diagnosis and establish individual case management plan.
  • Assess clients’ needs, abilities or behaviour using a variety of methods, including psychometric tests, interviews and direct observation of their behaviour
  • Devise and monitor appropriate treatment programmes, including therapy, counselling or advice, in collaboration with colleagues
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, social workers, education professionals, health visitors and occupational therapists
  • Offer therapy and treatments for issues relating to a range of mental health conditions
  • Develop and evaluate psychological service provision for clients
  • Counsel and support carers
  • Record all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms
  • Provide orientation to other members of staff
  • Assist and train staff members and resourceful people whenever necessary in order to enhance the scope of Mental Health activities
  • Participate in developing community networks to support mental health patients
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned from time to time
  • Well organized and methodical approach to work – able to multi-task
  • Appreciation of critical timescales and the impact of tardiness on customer perception
  • Credibility both internally and externally – with colleagues, partners and customers
  • Energy, drive and ambition to achieve objectives and set targets
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the institution
  • Mature, credible, highly professional, and comfortable in dealing with psychiatric patients
  • Diploma in Psychology (Graduate degree level preferred)
