Background information about the job or company
VOCAL Africa is a Pan African human rights organization initiated in 2023 to amplify efforts of local actors and leaders towards promoting, protecting, and defending human rights and social justice as enshrined in the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights. We are seeking a committed and experienced Rapid Response Officer to coordinate rapid response initiatives and crisis management.
Responsibilities or duties
- Coordinate rapid response initiatives, crisis management, and stakeholder engagement for emergency situations.
- Plan, implement, monitor, and report on assigned emergency programs and project outcomes.
- Deploy rapidly to crisis locations to document human rights violations, fact-find, and secure time-sensitive evidence.
- Collect, analyze, and report critical emergency data to contribute to the quarterly State of Human Rights report.
- Provide immediate protection, support, and referral pathways for victims, survivors, and witnesses at risk.
- Coordinate media briefings, press conferences, and media outlets to maximize reach during campaigns and emergency responses.
Qualifications or requirements
- At least a degree in Law, Criminology, or related fields.
- Must have social media skills and be active on various platforms.
- Demonstrated commitment to human rights and social justice.
Experience needed
- At least 5 years experience in a similar position.
- Computer literate with proven report writing skills.
