Job Objective/ Purpose:
Provide and ensure quality Neurosurgeon Services within the Avenue group in line with the company policies and procedures.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct Neurosurgeon outpatient clinics in line with the hospital schedules and attend to both walk-in and referred patients.
- Attend to all patients who require Neurosurgeon services in theater within hospital standard operating procedures, national and internationally guidelines.
- Conducting timely ward rounds/patient reviews for all general surgery patients in the hospital, in line with the hospital standard operating procedures, national, and international treatment guidelines.
- Accurate and clear documentation of patient history, physical examination, investigations, and management.
- Provide clarity of investigations to be carried out and interpretation of the results and ensure update to the patients and the next of kin.
- Facilitate patient admissions, necessary consents, and discharges.
- Counsel clients on treatment and compliance to treatment (patient and family) while ensuring their participation in decision making in their management.
- Carry out procedures and surgical interventions as per authorized/licensed privileges while ensuring high quality of care/services and safety of patients.
- Conduct family conferences in line with hospital standard operating procedures.
- Participate in morbidity and mortality audits and meetings.
- Participation in incident reporting, root cause analysis and Quality Improvement Plan
- Participate in the continuous review and improvement of departmental standard operating procedures.
- Facilitate Continuous Medical Education, mentorship, and skills training to colleagues.
- Acquiring new skills on best practices and proactively facilitate implementation.
- Maintain a positive work attitude and foster teamwork.
- Always maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Ensure patient satisfaction through quality of care, communication, feedback and escalation and demonstrate follow-up and improvement.
- Ensure sustainability and growth by:
- Increasing the quality and diversity of services offered in the facility.
- supporting outreach activities.
- support revenue cycle management through ensuring pre-authorization, billing, and accurately filling of all necessary claims' documentation.
- maintaining awareness about credit limits.
- Ensure that Avenue corporate governance policies are adhered to.
- Prevent, detect and report any fraud or criminal activity
- timely review and implementation of audit recommendations
- Ensure adequate knowledge of all Avenue policies, procedures and systems as outlined in the HRMIS.
- Any other duty as assigned by your immediate supervisor in line with the job description.

- Specialist recognition in Neurosurgeon
- Masters in Neurosurgeon
- Bachelor's degree in medicine and surgery
- Laparoscopic Surgery Training & Experience is and added advantage
- 3 years' experience
