The role will be responsible for financial controls, reporting, supplier and stock management, tax compliance, and ensuring accurate financial records across all restaurant locations.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Manage supplier and accounts payable processes, including approved supplier management, supplier reconciliations, supplier statements, pricing reviews, and timely processing of supplier payments.
  • Oversee stock control across all restaurant locations by conducting regular stocktakes, reviewing daily stock counts, investigating variances, and working with operations teams to strengthen inventory controls and manage costs.
  • Monitor daily cash, card, and delivery aggregator collections, ensuring restaurant banking reconciles accurately with POS reports, banking slips, and third-party statements, and promptly investigating any discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records in the accounting system, including purchases, sales, expenses, banking transactions, and other financial entries, and prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and financial analysis for management.
  • Manage tax and statutory compliance, including preparation of monthly VAT returns and reconciliations, reconciliation of VAT balances against KRA iTax data, withholding tax filings, and resolution of any discrepancies.
  • Monitor the timely renewal of restaurant licences, statutory permits, and other regulatory requirements while maintaining complete and accurate financial documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Supervise the stock controller and work closely with restaurant management and operations teams to strengthen financial controls, improve operational efficiency, and support management with financial and commercial decision-making.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • CPA (K), ACCA, or CIMA qualification.
  • Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online and financial reporting.
  • Good working knowledge of Kenyan VAT, withholding tax, KRA iTax, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with a hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.

Experience needed

  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality, restaurant, retail, or multi-site operations sector.
  • Experience in stock control, supplier management, cash and banking reconciliations, and financial controls.
