The Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa is an institution of Aga Khan Health Service (AKHS), Kenya which is an Agency of Aga Khan Development Network. The Hospital seeks to recruit an ideal candidate for the following position:

SONOGRAPHER - (1 POSITION)

Reporting to the Radiology Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the use of ultrasound high frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body tissues to help doctors diagnose and monitor a variety of conditions such as heart disease, pregnancy and cancer. Also assist in other diagnostic procedures (CT, X-Ray, Mammography, MRI) to help identify and diagnose a variety of medical conditions, diseases and injuries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and conduct sonography examinations by ensuring infection control, sterilization, and safety compliance; verifying orders for medical necessity; assessing patient readiness; and using ergonomic techniques to optimize imaging quality and prevent injury.
  • Perform and analyze diagnostic imaging with independent judgment to capture accurate clinical conditions, review findings, and prepare preliminary reports, including portable scans for immobile patients.
  • Provide patient-centered care by offering physical and psychological support, addressing concerns, and managing challenging interactions with patients, relatives, or staff.
  • Maintain equipment and compliance by inspecting devices, reporting faults, adhering to safety protocols, documenting records confidentially, and responding to incidents per institutional policies.
  • Uphold professional standards through participation in audits, completion of mandatory training, staying updated on guidelines, and performing additional duties as assigned.

Required qualifications, attributes, and experience.

  • Higher Diploma in Ultrasound
  • Diploma in Medical Imaging Sciences
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a similar position.
  • Registered and Licensed by the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority.
  • Exposure to Hospital Management Systems and good computer skills are Key essentials for the Job.
