Job summary

We are seeking a results-driven Sales Manager to lead and expand our solar systems sales operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in sales management, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for renewable energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with company growth targets.
  • Own and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and margin targets.
  • Build and manage a robust sales pipeline, ensuring consistent deal flow across all segments.
  • Identify high-value opportunities in commercial, industrial, NGO, and government sectors.
  • Drive solution-based selling, including bundled solar + storage + installation offerings.

2. Team Leadership & Performance Management

  • Assist in recruitment, train, and manage a high-performing sales team.
  • Manage and monitor team performance
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching, and field support.
  • Build a performance-driven culture with accountability and continuous improvement.

3. Technical Sales Oversight

  • Provide guidance on solar system sizing, costing, and proposal development.
  • Work closely with technical/engineering teams to ensure:
    • Accurate system design
    • Feasible project execution timelines
  • Support the team in closing complex deals requiring technical and financial structuring.

4. Business Development & Partnerships

  • Establish and maintain relationships with: Corporate clients, Real estate developers, Contractors and EPC partners, Government and institutional stakeholders
  • Develop strategic partnerships to expand market reach and distribution channels.
  • Lead negotiations and closing of high-value contracts and tenders.

5. Market Intelligence & Competitive Positioning

  • Monitor industry trends in the Kenyan solar market, including: Pricing models, Competitor offerings, Regulatory changes
  • Provide actionable insights to refine pricing, product offerings, and go-to-market strategy.

6. Sales Operations & Reporting

  • Implement and manage CRM systems and sales tracking tools.
  • Prepare detailed reports on:Sales performance,Pipeline health,Forecast accuracy
  • Ensure proper documentation of contracts, client engagements, and compliance requirements.

Key Deliverables / KPIs

  • Monthly and quarterly revenue achievement
  • Pipeline value and conversion rates
  • Team productivity (sales per agent)
  • Customer acquisition and retention rates
  • Average deal size growth
  • Reduction in sales cycle duration

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Energy, or related field (MBA is an added advantage).
  • Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in sales, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in solar energy, electrical systems, or technical solution sales.
  • Demonstrated ability to close high-value B2B deals.
  • Strong understanding of: Solar PV systems, Inverters, batteries, and installation processes.
