Background information about the job or company

Due to practice growth, MMK has an opening for a relatively senior advocate with extensive employment law advisory and disputes/litigation experience to add to the team.

This is a senior role, with the right candidate expected to join at Senior Associate, Director or Salaried Partner level depending on their current level, experience and expertise.

MMK is ranked highly in Chambers Global, Legal 500 and World Tax. It is a known market leader in employment and labour relations with fast-growing practice areas in dispute resolution, insolvency, banking, energy, aviation and appellate practice.

In the just released Legal 500 rankings, the Employment team is lauded for being "very knowledgeable in employment law" while the Disputes team is highly regarded by clients for “its intellectual rigour, integrity, and collaborative spirit”.

The firm acts for some of the leading blue-chip companies, government entities, MNCs and top global brands.

If you join MMK, you will work closely with colleagues across departments and practice areas, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, training and professional development. The firm’s structure also allows for relatively quick decision-making and direct involvement in matters, without some of the bureaucracy and layers that are often present in larger firms.

You will be exposed to a broad mix of advisory and disputes work for a diverse client base and will work as part of a progressive employment and dispute resolution team.

The role offers competitive benefits together with strong prospects for progression and long-term professional development for the right candidate.

  • You should currently be working, or have previously worked in a top or medium-sized highly regarded law firm.
  • In addition, you should have a proven and demonstrable track record in handling a complex variety of employment law advisory work and dispute resolution matters from start to finish with minimum to no supervision.
  • You should also have experience in supervising and mentoring younger advocates and support staff, managing matters proactively, maintaining strong turnaround times, and taking ownership of files and client relationships.
