Senior Finance Officer Job (100-120K)
Our client in the event industry are looking to hire a Senior Finance Officer/ Finance Lead, who will lead the finance and administration functions to ensure effective financial management, compliance with accounting standards, and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for supervising financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and audit processes while ensuring strong internal controls and providing strategic support to management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Oversee and manage all financial and administrative activities to achieve organizational financial objectives.
- Monitor and control expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard financial procedures and internal controls.
- Ensure accurate preparation, maintenance, and safeguarding of all financial records.
Accounting & Reporting
- Review and approve invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Investigate accounting discrepancies, recommend corrective actions, and ensure proper financial reconciliations.
- Supervise the preparation of timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure adherence to standard accounting policies, financial principles, and regulatory requirements.
Payroll & Tax Compliance
- Oversee the payroll processing function to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
- Supervise preparation and filing of statutory taxes and returns (PAYE, VAT, NHIF, NSSF, etc.) in compliance with relevant laws.
Audit & Compliance
- Serve as the key contact person during both internal and external audits.
- Provide required documentation and address audit queries promptly.
- Ensure the organization meets all compliance and regulatory obligations.
Leadership & Administration
- Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to the finance and administrative teams.
- Develop departmental goals, work plans, and performance standards.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve financial and administrative challenges.
- Ensure smooth coordination with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Customer Service & General Support
- Respond to financial-related customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Undertake any other duties that may be assigned from time to time in support of departmental and organizational objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA (K)/ACCA or equivalent professional qualification required.
- Minimum of 5–7 years’ accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or senior finance role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, tax laws, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
