Background
JKUAT Enterprises Ltd (JKUATES) is a state corporation fully owned by JKUAT. Through research, consulting, training, and innovation, we deliver tailored advisory services to both public and private sector clients.
Our client, in the financial sector, is seeking to recruit suitably qualified, experienced, result-oriented and highly motivated Kenyans to fill the following vacant position.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitating case management for failed institutions including witness preparation, pre-trial briefings, and prosecuting or defending legal matters in court proceedings.
- Managing the panel of external legal service providers for failed institutions and assessing legal fees for High Court matters to ensure effective cost control.
- Advising on legal strategies for failed institutions.
- Managing disputes affecting failed institutions through litigation, negotiations, mediation, and arbitration processes.
- Executing conveyancing functions for failed institutions including reviewing land dispositions, conducting property searches, and attending to Land Registry matters.
- Providing legal advisory services to failed institutions by monitoring Kenya Gazette publications and tracking legislative developments affecting institutional operations.
- Drafting and reviewing contracts, Memoranda of Understanding, Service Level Agreements, and other legal instruments.
- Monitoring legislative developments in Parliament and preparing impact assessments on Corporation operations.
- Updating and maintaining documentation to support Quality Management Systems and performance standards implementation.
- Monitoring implementation of recommended legal strategies by Liquidation Agents of troubled institutions.
- Managing securities and maintaining legal document records acquired from failed institutions.
- Providing preparatory legal services to facilitate orderly winding up of institutions under liquidation.
- Developing legal opinions on debt negotiation strategies and asset recovery proposals for institutions under Asset Management and Liquidation.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience
- Cumulative period of six (6) years’ relevant work experience three (3) of which should have been in the grade of Legal Officer I or in a comparable position.
Education
- Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) or any other relevant qualification from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Other Requirements
- Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid Practicing Certificate.
- Membership to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and in good standing.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
