Job Description
Reporting to the Sector Head, the Senior Relationship Manager will be responsible for implementing the Corporate Banking Customer Value Proposition (CVP) and Industry Value Propositions (IVPs) for learning institutions. The role entails proactive portfolio management, cross-selling banking and financial products, and developing long-term client relationships that enhance profitability and sustainability.
The position holder will also manage sector-specific strategies, ensure the achievement of business growth targets, and uphold compliance with risk management and governance frameworks. This is a strategic role requiring deep sector knowledge, strong financial acumen, and a consultative approach to relationship management.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
A. Strategy Implementation
- Implement sector-specific strategies aligned with the overall corporate banking strategy.
- Deliver on annual business targets, including revenue, profitability, and customer acquisition.
- Develop sector insights and share with internal stakeholders to guide strategy and innovation.
- Drive sustainable growth through customized financial solutions that meet client needs.
B. Sales and Business Growth
- Execute strategic client plans and identify new business opportunities.
- Drive sales growth in collaboration with business partners such as Treasury, Retail Banking, and Digital Services.
- Promote cross-selling of bank products to deepen client relationships.
- Maintain balance sheet health by managing facility margins and pricing structures.
- Grow non-financial performance indicators including customer satisfaction and acquisition.
C. Relationship Management
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key decision-makers in learning institutions.
- Champion superior customer service delivery to drive retention and loyalty.
- Develop long-term commercial opportunities and manage stakeholder engagement.
- Represent the bank in sector forums and professional networks to strengthen market visibility.
D. Account Monitoring and Risk Management
- Monitor client accounts to ensure adherence to credit limits and compliance with policy parameters.
- Ensure timely submission of quality credit proposals.
- Manage credit risks within acceptable NPL and PAR ratios.
- Oversee governance, control, and business continuity within the assigned portfolio.
- Prepare and submit performance and risk reports accurately and promptly.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university (preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field).
- Minimum of 8 years of banking experience, with at least 5 years in relationship management within the learning institutions sector.
- Proven experience in Credit and Financial Analysis and Client Portfolio Management.
- Knowledge of Trade and Transaction Banking products.
- Proficiency in digital tools and banking technologies.
- Strong entrepreneurial, analytical, and commercial thinking skills.
- Excellent research, negotiation, and communication abilities.
- Integrity, sound judgment, and courage to challenge the status quo.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Creative mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges and provide innovative solutions.
