Position Summary

The Steward is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, dishwashing area, and back-of-house operations. This role ensures that all utensils, equipment, and workspaces are clean, sanitized, and organized in compliance with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, cutlery, pots, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, storage areas, and waste disposal areas.
  • Ensure proper waste segregation and disposal.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries in designated areas.
  • Support kitchen staff with basic cleaning and preparation tasks when required.
  • Ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition.
  • Follow instructions from the Head Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role (preferred).
  • Basic understanding of hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy restaurant environment.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for long hours.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
