Background information about the job or company (e.g., role context, company overview)
Bureau Veritas is a recognized world leader in testing, inspection and certification services (TIC). With more than 120 years of experience in Africa and since 1994 in Nairobi to perform pre-export verification of conformity and government services in international trade, we developed a strong knowledge of the country, its activities and patterns. Later on, we extended our scope of operations to all the markets of Bureau Veritas and have contributed to the development of Kenya and have worked for a greener economy and a more reliable agriculture.
ROLE PURPOSE
As a Sustainability Professional within Bureau Veritas MCA, you will support client projects and internal initiatives that enable organisations to measure, manage, and improve their environmental and social performance. You will contribute to the delivery of sustainability services while developing your technical expertise and advisory capabilities under the guidance of experienced professionals and Bureau Veritas Global Sustainability Programme tutors.
ROLE CONTEXT & RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Sustainability Associate (Buildings & Infrastructure) within Bureau Veritas MCA, you will be the first dedicated B&I sustainability professional in your area — a pioneer role. You will support the delivery of green building certification, sustainability assessments, energy audits, and B&I sustainability services for real estate developers, construction companies, development finance institutions and multinational operators. You will report to the Area B&I Product Line Manager and receive structured mentorship from the MCA regional sustainability team through BV's Global Sustainability Programme.
WHAT WE OFFER

Competitive early-career salary benchmarked to local market
Monthly thematic training sessions (technical practitioner + sales formats) organised by the MCA regional sustainability team
Access to Bureau Veritas's global sustainability methodologies, tools and AI-driven solutions
Clear career development pathway: Consultant → Senior Consultant → Expert within 2–3 years
Part of a growing regional sustainability team spanning 35+ countries across MCA
Pioneer role — the first dedicated B&I sustainability position in BV MCA's ESA/NWF areas; opportunity to shape the practice from the ground up
Participation in BV's Green Buildings Technical Tribe, connecting practitioners across the MCA region
PROGRAMME RESPONSIBILITIES (ALL ACADEMY HIRES)
The following are programme deliverables developed during employment — not pre-requisites for recruitment.

Business, economics or data analytics graduates with a sustainability focus are equally welcome for advisory-track roles.
- Recent graduate OR up to 2 years of professional experience — this is an entry-level programme role
- Previous experience in ESG or sustainability is appreciated but not required (e.g. internship, dissertation or academic project in sustainability)
- Desirable familiarity with one or more of the following: carbon footprinting, LCA, energy audits, ESG reporting, or supply chain sustainability
