Background
The CFS facility is strategically located adjacent to the SGR Nairobi Terminus. As a leading CFS, NICT is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced, and results driven Terminal Supervisor to oversee day to day terminal operations and ensure the efficient, safe and compliant movement of cargo.
Responsibilities;
- Ensure proper planning of the human resource in the terminal to ensure operations do not suffer due to lack of personnel in receiving, stacking, verification, loading and releasing of containers.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, and resources to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, customs requirements, and health & safety regulations.
- Monitor operational performance and ensure service delivery targets are achieved.
- Supervise, coach & and develop terminal staff to enhance productivity and accountability.
- Ensure equipment inspection are conducted and maintenance issues are reported promptly.
- Investigate operational incidents and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Prepare and submit daily operational and performance reports.
- Liaise with customers, transporters, shipping lines, and Government partner agencies to facilitate seamless operations.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- A Diploma in Logistics, Business, Supply Chain Management or other related field
- Computer skills including MS Office
Skills and experience
- A minimum of 7 years experience in Terminal operations in Logistics/Shipping industry.
- A minimum of three years experience in a supervisory role in a CFS/Warehouse setting.
- Proven experience in container handling, customs clearance, and coordination with KPA, KRA, Shipping lines and Transporters.
- Strong knowledge of cargo documentation, terminal planning, cargo flow, safety regulations and equipment use & control (reach stackers, forklift)
- Ability to think strategically
- Advanced verbal and written communications skills in English, in addition to effective interpersonal skills
- Excellent decision-making and leadership capabilities.
