About the Role

We are seeking a sharp, mid-level Electrical Maintenance Senior Coordinator with 2+ years of industrial experience to oversee the electrical maintenance, automation systems, and technical team at our Sagana production facility.

In this role, you will balance hands-on technical troubleshooting with team leadership. You will be responsible for executing the preventative maintenance program, managing advanced automation (PLC/SCADA) across our pyrolysis lines, ensuring safety compliance, and supervising a shift team of Maintenance Technicians to maximize facility uptime.

Responsibilities

Technical Team Leadership & Supervision

  • People Management: Direct, supervise, and mentor on-shift Maintenance Technicians, ensuring clear assignment of repair tasks, balanced shift coverage, and accountability.
  • Safety Enforcement: Lead the enforcement of rigorous Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols and high-voltage safety procedures among the technical crew.
  • Skills Development: Conduct training and performance feedback for technicians to elevate the team’s overall diagnostic capabilities.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate closely with production supervisors to align planned electrical maintenance windows with operational goals.

Electrical Maintenance & Asset Reliability

  • Preventative Maintenance (PM): Execute the facility’s preventive electrical maintenance plan, optimized around our 48-hour run / 12-hour maintenance cycles.
  • Breakdown Response: Rapidly diagnose and resolve electrical faults, component failures, and wiring issues during live operations to minimize plant downtime.
  • Spare Parts Management: Monitor and manage the inventory of critical electrical spares and instrumentation to ensure zero delays during equipment breakdowns.
  • External Contractor Oversight: Assist in supervising external electrical contractors or specialized vendors during major upgrades or utility overhauls.

Automation, Controls & Power Systems

  • Control Systems Support: Troubleshoot and maintain PLC/SCADA configurations, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and industrial control panels.
  • Instrumentation & Calibration: Manage and calibrate all sensors, actuators, and processing line telemetry to guarantee data accuracy and operational safety.
  • Utility Integration: Serve as the technical point of contact for Kenya Power (KP) to resolve outages, track energy usage, and maintain the readiness of the site’s backup diesel generators.
  • Technical Records: Keep plant electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment history logs meticulously updated.

Career Growth and Development

We have a strong culture of constant learning and we invest in developing our people. You'll have weekly check-ins with your manager, access to mentorship and training programs, and regular feedback on your performance. We hold career reviews every six months, and set aside time to discuss your aspirations and career goals. You'll have the opportunity to shape a growing organization and build a rewarding long-term career.

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience or strong potential for managing, supervising, or leading a team of technical personnel (technicians/electricians).
  • Automation Familiarity: Experience with industrial control systems, including PLC fault-finding, SCADA systems, and VFD programming.
  • Licensing: A valid electrical competency certification/license from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) is highly preferred.
  • Safety Focus: Deep operational knowledge of industrial safety standards (OSHA) and LOTO practices.
  • Data Literacy: Ability to interpret technical drawings and use Excel/Google Sheets to track maintenance KPIs and utility data.
