Basic job summary:

  • The Job holder will be responsible for assisting the Restaurant Supervisor in delivering exceptional Food and Beverage Service experience to university guests, students and staff members in a manner that is prompt, courteous, and efficient.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve food and beverages to guests as per duty Rota, ensuring first class service to all customers.
  • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness in the food service area at all times to maintain high standards of food hygiene as per the stipulated standards.
  • Refill serving stations or dining areas with food and supplies such as beverages, food, cutlery, napkins and linens when necessary.
  • Provide customers with general information or assistance on the menus upon request
  • Co - ordinate with the chefs and cashiers to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction
  • Clean tables and counters after guests have finished dining.
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
  • Arranging and setting up tables for special request functions, ensuring that all events are set by the guidance of functions checklist.
  • Handle special requests and dietary requirements, communicating them effectively to the kitchen staff where applicable
  • Work closely with kitchen staff, baristas, and other waiters to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction.
  • The post-holder will carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the Head of Department.

Minimum Academic Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Food Production, Food and Beverage, or any other related field from a recognized institution

Experience:

  • At least 2 years relevant work experience in a busy environment

Competencies and Attributes:

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attention to details
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good understanding of MS Suite
