About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Laboratory Technician to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and operating laboratory equipment, assisting students and faculty with experiments, and ensuring a safe and efficient laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

The Laboratory Technician will be expected to perform the following duties:

• Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and materials for practical sessions.
• Assist students and faculty during experiments and practical work.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and calibrated.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures within the laboratory.
• Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents, and place orders as needed.
• Clean and maintain the laboratory space.
• Provide technical support to users of the laboratory.

Qualification and experience

• Proficient in relevant computer applications
• Be a member of Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) and have practising license.
• At least three (3)  years of relevant experience in a similar role,
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Medical  Laboratory Technology or related qualifications from a recognised/accredited University in the relevant field.

Experience

A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.

This is a full-time position based at our main campus in Nairobi.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
• Valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
