Responsible for designing and managing digital-first, data-driven financial risk onboarding and underwriting processes across the Digital Business. Leads the integration of embedded risk assessments and model validation frameworks to ensure agile, proactive risk management. Supports evaluation and reporting of financial risk models including credit, investment, market, and liquidity while driving data exploration to optimize portfolio performance within defined risk appetites. Serves as a subject matter expert in credit risk, supporting capability development across teams and subsidiaries. 

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

Financial (30%)

  • Design and optimize digital-first, customer-obsessed financial risk processes to enhance portfolio performance, revenue generation, and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with group and regulatory risk management policies.
  • Set and monitor risk tolerance thresholds aligned with strategy.
  • Oversee financial risk model validation and monitoring.
  • Track account performance and covenant compliance to avoid credit losses.

Internal Business Processes (50%)

  • Build data-driven, digital risk management processes for proactive financial risk identification and evaluation.
  • Review and approve credit proposals within risk appetite.
  • Conduct portfolio analysis to improve risk and acquisition strategies.
  • Explore new technologies (AI, analytics) for credit risk assessments.
  • Support strategic decisions with financial forecasting and operational reporting.
  • Lead model validation, governance, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Automate credit assessment workflows to drive efficiency and performance.
  • Ensure audit-readiness of data-driven models and systems.

 Customer (10%)

  • Collaborate with business teams to support new initiatives, conduct portfolio reviews, and revise credit policies.
  • Guide credit cycle management and analytics-led decisions.
  • Provide training to subsidiaries to build risk capability.
  • Drive digital innovations and continuous improvements in risk processes and tools.

Learning & Growth (10%)

  • Build team capability through coaching and training.
  • Commit to ongoing self-development and upskilling.

Job Specifications

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Proficiency in data analytics and statistical programming languages (e.g., SQL, R, Python).
  • Strong IT and office automation skills (e.g., MS Office, MIS, BI tools).

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of banking experience, with at least 3 years in financial/credit management or portfolio analysis.
  • Experience in portfolio management and reporting within automated environments.
  • Exposure to project management and team supervision.
  • Proven ability to work across teams and manage stakeholder expectations.

Technical Competency

  • Strong financial modeling, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Practical experience in data architecture design and implementation.
  • Proficiency in machine learning and advanced statistical techniques.
  • Skilled in interpreting large data sets with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize, drive results, and adapt to new technologies with a continuous learning mindset.
