Job Description
Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) is a national faith based organization committed to promoting universal access to quality health care in Kenya since 1946. CHAK has been awarded by USAID the USAID Jamii Tekelezi HIV & OVC (JTP) project which covers the counties of Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu and Nyandarua. JTP Consortium is led by CHAK and includes MEDS, NOPE and implementation done in close partnership with the County Governments. USAID Jamii Tekelezi is a county-level service delivery program offering quality and sustainable HIV prevention, care and treatment services in the counties of Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu and Nyandarua. The project also supports services for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Meru
County only.
The objective of the project is to enable the counties to achieve epidemiological control of HIV infections, safeguarding the rights and welfare of children and adolescents impacted by HIV/AIDS and ensuring equitable access to quality primary health care services. It will also support targeted health systems strengthening and capacity building interventions to enable activities and responsibilities to incrementally and gradually transition to the county governments. The Project Head Office is located in Embu County with field county level offices in
Tharaka Nithi, Meru and Nyandarua.
About Job
We are seeking to recruit competent and self-driven personnel to fill the following positions within our project sites: Associate Program Officer – Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
(3 Positions, Meru / Nyandarua). The APO is responsible for assisting the county M&E program officer in implementation of integrated M&E system for Jamii Tekelezi Program.
S/he will be a key assistant staff in routine compilation, verification, storage, consolidation of program data and giving real time information to program team and MoH consolidation of program data and giving real time information to program team and MoH staff at facility and sub county level.
Reporting to the MEL Officer, the key duties and responsibilities include:
• Assist in collection, verification, collation, cleaning and uploading of data to CHAK/JTP DHIS2 instance, DATIM, CPMIS and Partner portal on weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
• Assist Sub County Health Management Teams (SCHMTs) and Sub County Department of Children Services (sCDCS) to conduct routine data quality audit (DQA), provide targeted feedback and follow up on data quality improvement plans (DQIP) in the supported sites.
• Assist in basic EMR trouble shooting, data cleaning, scale up of Point of Care (POC) model and routine database backup, uploading and tracking in national data warehouse
• Conduct routine assessment of availability, distribution, and redistribution of M&E tools in supported facilities to forestall any shortage
• Assist in data mining from KHIS and other reporting platforms for use at facility level for generation and updating of site level dashboards to track target achievement
• Support feedback and follow up of M&E issues at facilities and sub county levels
• Assist in planning, organization and documentation of sub county, facility, and casebased management data review
• Maintain positive relations with Ministry of Health officials, program partners and other relevant stakeholders at sub county and facility levels
• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Diploma in Health records and Information science, IT
• Bachelors’ degree in biostatistics, Epidemiology or health informatics will be an added advantage
• Experience of at least two (2) years in M and E of HIV and OVC Programs using both quantitative and qualitative approaches
• Proficient with both MoH and USAID reporting tools and databases (DATIM, KHIS2 and KenyaEMR)
• Proficient with Microsoft Tools, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
