Key Duties and Responsibilities
Overview of Functions
- Preparing payment vouchers and processing imprest and travel advances.
- Receiving cash, banking, balancing and reconciling cash books on daily basis.
- Posting payments and receipts in the cashbook.
- Providing safe custody of cash and payment vouchers.
- Preparing and updating creditor, debtors and general ledgers and liaising with customers to provide billing information.
- Preparing monthly bank accounts reconciliationsand processing of statutory deductions payments.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate prepayments, accruals and provision schedule.
- Checking the Vote Book and ensuring budgetary controls are in place.
- Ensuring safe custody of accountable documents.
- Reviewing monthly, quarterly and annual management reports.
- Reviewing vote book entries and undertaking monthly variance analysis.
- Conducting below the line analysis accounts.
- Providing input in the preparation of budget estimates.
Person Specifications
Mandatory requirements:
- Have served in the grade of an Accountant II for a minimum period of three (3) years.
- Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Finance, Business Management (Accounting or Finance option)or equivalent qualification.
- Certified Public Accountants (CPA) part I or equivalent qualification.
- Be Proficient in computer applications.
- Preparing payment vouchers and processing imprest and travel advances.
