We are a dynamic distribution company handling both alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages. With multiple warehouse locations and complex inventory cycles, accurate stock accounting is essential to our success.
Role Purpose
The Inventory & Tax Accountant is responsible for managing accurate recording, valuation, and reporting of inventory while ensuring full compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Costing
●Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, reconciliations, and valuations.
●Monitor stock movements (purchases, transfers, consumption, write-offs) and ensure proper accounting treatment.
●Perform monthly and year-end inventory reconciliations with physical stock counts.
●Analyze variances in cost of goods sold (COGS), production costs, and stock adjustments.
●Support internal controls over stock management and provide recommendations to reduce shrinkage or inefficiencies.
Tax Compliance & Reporting
●Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, income tax, withholding tax, excise, etc.) in compliance with statutory deadlines.
●Ensure accurate tax computations in line with local tax laws and regulations.
●Maintain proper documentation for audits and respond to queries from tax authorities.
●Advise management on the tax impact of transactions, business decisions, and regulatory changes.
●Monitor changes in tax legislation and recommend updates to policies and procedures.
Financial & Cross-Functional Support
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
●Provide reports on inventory valuation and tax liabilities to management.
●Collaborate with procurement, operations, and finance teams to ensure alignment of financial records.
●Support external and internal audits by preparing necessary schedules and explanations.
Qualifications & Skills
●Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
●CPA/ACCA or equivalent professional certification (preferred).
●Minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience in accounting with exposure to both inventory and tax functions.
●Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and local tax laws.
●Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle, Microsoft Excel)
