Accountant – Purchasing

Position: Accountant – Purchasing
Location: Salgaa, Kenya
Experience: 5–7 years
Qualification: Chartered Accountant

Job Summary:
The Accountant – Purchasing will oversee the financial and accounting aspects of procurement activities, ensuring accurate recording of purchases, supplier payments, cost control, and compliance with procurement and financial policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Record and reconcile purchasing and procurement transactions.
• Review purchase invoices against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
• Process and monitor supplier payments.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor purchasing costs and analyze expenditure trends.
• Maintain accurate records of procurement-related financial transactions.
• Support procurement budgeting and forecasting.
• Verify prices, quantities, taxes, and payment terms on supplier invoices.
• Monitor outstanding supplier balances and payment schedules.
• Ensure procurement transactions comply with financial controls and company policies.
• Support audits and provide procurement-related financial documentation.
• Work closely with procurement, stores, finance, and suppliers to resolve financial issues.

Requirements:

• Chartered Accountant qualification.
• 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in procurement accounting, accounts payable, or manufacturing is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of financial controls and supplier reconciliations.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
• Strong Excel and accounting-system proficiency.
• High attention to detail, integrity, and accuracy.

Level of Education: postgraduate degree
