Description
Suhara Transport (K) Ltd, a recognized transport and logistics company, is looking for an Accountant for our Container Depot. The accountant will be responsible for managing all financial transactions, reporting, cost control, and billing activities for the container depot, ISO tank cleaning operations, and lubricant supply business. The role is to ensure accurate invoicing, reconciliation of operational activities, tax compliance, and effective coordination with operations, sales, and management teams.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly revenue reports for container storage, handling, cleaning, repairs, and lubricant sales.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, profitability reports, and variance analyses for the depot and lubricant business.
- Monitor depot operating expenses, including fuel, utilities, chemicals, labour, and maintenance costs.
Billing, Reconciliation & Inventory Management
- Reconcile gate-in/gate-out movements with billing to ensure accurate invoicing for containers and ISO tanks.
- Validate work orders, repair estimates, and cleaning charges before billing customers.
- Manage billing and stock accounting for lubricants, including tracking purchases, issues, and closing inventory.
- Reconcile lubricant sales with delivery notes, stock movement, and customer payments.
Accounts Receivable & Compliance
- Manage accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding payments, and reconcile customer statements.
- Ensure compliance with KRA requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by providing complete and accurate financial documentation.
Record Keeping & Collaboration
- Update and maintain accurate financial records in the accounting system and depot management system.
- Collaborate with operations, documentation, and sales teams on depot and lubricant transactions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA Section 4 and above; CPA(K) preferred.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of accounting experience in container depots, CFS, logistics, or ISO tank operations.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software.
- Experience with depot management systems is an added advantage.
- Strong reconciliation, analytical, and reporting skills with high attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of KRA tax compliance requirements.
