Accountant – Transport

Position: Accountant – Transport
Location: Nairobi
Experience: 5–7 years
Qualification: Chartered Accountant

Job Summary:
The Accountant – Transport will oversee accounting and financial management activities related to transport operations, ensuring accurate cost tracking, reporting, budgeting, and financial control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage accounting records for transport and fleet operations.
• Track fuel, maintenance, repairs, insurance, licensing, and other fleet-related costs.
• Reconcile transport-related invoices and supplier accounts.
• Monitor transport operating expenses against approved budgets.
• Prepare financial reports and cost analyses for management.
• Analyze transport costs and identify areas for cost optimization.
• Review payments to transport contractors and service providers.
• Maintain accurate records of transport assets and related expenses.
• Support budgeting and forecasting for transport operations.
• Conduct account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies and applicable regulations.
• Work closely with transport, procurement, logistics, and finance teams.

Requirements:

• Chartered Accountant qualification.
• 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in transport, logistics, fleet, or manufacturing is highly desirable.
• Strong financial analysis and cost-control skills.
• Excellent Excel and accounting-system proficiency.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Level of Education: postgraduate degree
