Responsibilities
The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with Kenyan statutory requirements, and supporting budgeting and audit processes.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Maintain accurate books of accounts in accordance with IFRS and company policies
- Record and reconcile general ledger entries, bank statements, and intercompany transactions
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and collections
Statutory Compliance (Kenya)
- Prepare and file PAYE, VAT, and Withholding Tax returns with KRA
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan tax laws and regulations
- Coordinate statutory deductions (NSSF, NHIF) and payroll reconciliations
- Support internal and external audits and respond to audit queries
Budgeting & Controls
- Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis
- Monitor expenses and ensure cost controls
- Support cash flow planning and forecasting
Coordination & Support
- Liaise with banks, auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies
- Support management with financial analysis and reports as required
- Maintain proper financial documentation and records
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent qualification (preferred or in progress)
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax and statutory requirements
- Experience working with accounting software (Odoo)
