Anti-Female Genital Mutilation (Anti-FGM) Board
The Anti-Female Genital Mutilation (Anti-FGM) Board is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services, established to implement the Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation Act, 2011.
The Board invites applications from qualified candidates for the following position:
Accountant (AFGM 7)
- Vacancy Number: AFGM/3/2026
- Number of Posts: 1
- Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Position Overview
This is the entry grade for the Accountant cadre. The successful candidate will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining primary accounting records such as cashbooks and ledgers.
- Posting vouchers and other accounting deductions.
- Preparing payment vouchers and commitment documents in accordance with established rules and regulations.
- Filing statutory returns.
- Preparing payment transactions.
- Preparing bank transfer instructions for payments.
- Generating trial balances.
- Verifying payment authorizations in accordance with the Board's approved sign-off limits.
- Preparing cash flow forecasts.
- Ensuring proper filing and safe custody of accountable documents.
- Managing daily petty cash transactions.
- Capturing accounting data and maintaining primary records, including cashbooks, ledgers, vote books, and registers.
- Reconciling supplier statements.
- Preparing simple management reports, including imprest and expenditure returns.
- Issuing cheques and posting payment and receipt vouchers in the cashbook.
Job Specifications
Applicants must possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in:
- Commerce (Accounting or Finance Option);
- Business Administration (Accounting Option); or
- An equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Passed Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or an equivalent qualification.
- Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
Key Competencies
- Strong analytical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Effective record management skills.
