The role reports to the Senior Accountant and is responsible for assisting in the effective day-to-day operations of the Finance Department. The Accountant will support financial reporting and financial processes while gaining practical experience and developing professional skills. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities for the position include the following:

  • Maintain accurate accounting records for company and fund operations, including updating trial balances, posting transactions, journals, expenses, income, and provisions.
  • Prepare and reconcile bank accounts, custody valuations, investment fund ledgers, receivables, payables, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Manage tax-related processes, including withholding tax postings, computations, filings, and maintenance of supporting schedules.
  • Prepare client fee notes, monitor collections, maintain income schedules, and support revenue accounting processes.
  • Coordinate supplier invoice processing, payment preparation, online payment processing, and petty cash management.
  • Prepare weekly cash position reports and support treasury and liquidity management activities.
  • Support payroll-related activities, including submission of non-statutory deductions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, professional development, and departmental projects.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

Qualified candidates are expected to possess the following:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field;
  • Completed the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPAK) examination or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience in a similar position is desirable;
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software and willingness to learn new systems;
  • High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail;
  • Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills;
  • Foundational understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards;
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements;
  • High ethical standards and personal integrity;
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment;
  • Good oral and written communication skills; and
  • An enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is eager to learn, grow, and develop a career in finance and accounting.
