Overall Responsibility

The accountant will maintain accurate financial records, ensure statutory compliance, strengthen internal controls, support budgeting processes, and safeguard the facility's financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with accounting standards and healthcare financial regulations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure proper cash flow management.
  • Oversee payroll processing and ensure accurate statutory remittances (PAYE, NSSF, SHIF/NHIF, Housing Levy, etc.).
  • Support budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis.
  • Strengthen internal controls to prevent fraud, financial leakage, and misappropriation of funds.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits and implement corrective action plans.
  • Monitor departmental expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Maintain proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
  • Provide financial data to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Assist in procurement, financial verification, and supplier payment validation.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives in line with SafeCare accreditation standards.

Job Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or related field.
  • At least CPA Part II
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a healthcare or institutional setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, and statutory compliance.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
