Job Overview:
The Accountant at Imara Avocado Factory is responsible for managing day-to-
day accounting functions including ledger entries, reconciliations, and
supporting financial reporting processes. The role ensures accurate
financial records and assists in maintaining compliance with Kenyan
accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

The Accountant plays a
key role in supporting the Finance team to deliver timely and reliable
financial information to support business decisions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
•Maintain and update general ledger accounts.
•Prepare and process journal entries, invoices, payments, and receipts.
•Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and customer accounts
regularly.
•Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
•Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial
statements.
•Support the Chief Accountant in month-end and year-end closing activities.
•Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for audits.
•Ensure compliance with Kenyan tax laws and assist in preparing tax returns
such as VAT, PAYE, and withholding taxes.
•Assist in maintaining internal controls and adherence to financial
policies and procedures.
•Support timely submission of statutory reports and filings.
•Assist in budget preparation and monitoring of expenses.
•Monitor and report on variances between actual and budgeted costs.
•Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
•Support payroll processing and related accounting entries.
•Collaborate with other departments to ensure accuracy of financial data.

Qualifications and Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
•CPA-K (Certified Public Accountant – Kenya) part-qualified or full
qualification preferred.
•Minimum 2–4 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably
within agriculture, manufacturing, or export businesses.
•Experience with accounting software such as SAP, Sage, QuickBooks, or
equivalent is an advantage.

Key Skills and Competencies:
•Strong knowledge of Kenyan accounting standards and tax regulations
•Good analytical and numerical skills
•Attention to detail and accuracy
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
•Good communication and interpersonal skills
•Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
•Integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
•Team player with willingness to learn and adapt
Working Conditions:
• Office-based at Imara Avocado Factory, Kenya
• Full-time, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime during reporting
periods
• Professional office setting with interaction across finance, procurement,
and operations teams
• Minimal, typically limited to occasional visits to auditors or regulatory
