Accountant at Collaborative Centre for Gender and Development

Responsibilities or duties

The successful candidate shall perform the following among other duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure updating of Cashbook and Ledger in the Accounting system.
  • Prepare the monthly bank reconciliations on the ledger and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Ensure timely payments of office utilities such as electricity, internet, rent, statutory deductions etc.
  • Ensure filling of Finance documents (receipts, payment vouchers etc.) and ensure accurate record keeping.
  • Assist in verification and review of staff salaries.
  • Clean and review data entries on quick books.
  • Ensure reconciling of bank accounts periodically and creditor/debtors accounts and advising on how to resolve any differences.
  • Receive payment requests/checking to ensure accuracy and accountability before processing.
  • Oversee preparation and filling of reimbursement forms.
  • Support program team with financial reports to donor partners.
  • Support preparation for audits.
  • Keep cheques books and issue cheques for payment while adhering to the relevant CCGD policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that CCGD payments adhere to the taxation, banking and other relevant laws and policies.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time by your supervisor.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • CPA- K
  • Proficiency in NGO financial systems, such as Quick books.
  • Understanding on preparation of donor reports.
  • Strong budgeting, cash flow management and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with grant management, donor regulations, audit processes and Compliance.

Experience needed

Minimum 3-5 years of working experience preferably in an NGO or similar setup.
