West Kenya Sugar is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Management Accountant to support our manufacturing operations across Sugar and Distillery businesses. This role is central to driving financial performance through robust budgeting, cost management, operational analysis, and strategic reporting. The successful candidate will provide actionable financial insights that improve productivity, optimize costs, strengthen controls, and support profitability across complex production environments.
Responsibilities or duties
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly management accounts and performance reports.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing costing models.
- Analyze production, raw material, agricultural, and logistics costs.
- Monitor operational efficiencies, yields, and cost drivers.
- Conduct profitability analysis by product, customer, and market.
- Manage inventory reconciliations, valuations, and stock movement controls.
- Prepare excise duty reconciliations and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support capital expenditure monitoring and post-investment reviews.
- Partner with operations teams to provide pricing and performance insights.
- Develop financial dashboards and reporting tools using SAP and Power BI.
- Strengthen internal controls, compliance, and audit readiness.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or related field.
- CPA(K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Membership in a recognized professional accounting body.
- MBA or Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of management accounting principles, IFRS, and financial controls.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP ECC6/S4HANA.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong Power BI and financial dashboard reporting capability.
- Costing expertise (standard costing, variance analysis, product costing).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong stakeholder management and business partnering capability.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- High integrity and accountability.
Experience needed
5-8 years’ experience in management accounting within a manufacturing or other relevant fast-paced environments
Proven experience in budgeting, costing, financial reporting, and performance analysis.
Experience working in high-volume, continuous-process environments.
