The Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting, working closely with our finance team to support daily operations. You will have the chance to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting and gain exposure to the full accounting cycle.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Assist with day-to-day accounting and finance operations, including data entry and record keeping.
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of financial records, invoices, and receipts.
  • Assist in basic financial reporting and the preparation of schedules and summaries.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice tracking and follow-ups.
  • Assist with filing and organisation of financial documents, both digital and physical.
  • Collaborate with the finance team on assigned tasks and ongoing accounting activities.
  • Provide general administrative support to the accounting and finance team as needed.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (formulas, spreadsheets). Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) is a distinct advantage.
  • Familiarity with Kenyan tax regulations, including KRA compliance, VAT, PAYE, and statutory filings, is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail, specifically regarding financial records and data accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
  • Proactive problem-solver with a self-motivated attitude. Must demonstrate high professionalism, integrity, and strict confidentiality.
  • Professionalism, integrity and a strong sense of confidentiality.
