Role Overview
To provide actuarial consultancy and related advisory services to the company, supporting the delivery of accurate actuarial analyses, client solutions, and compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operational
- Conduct actuarial valuations of insurance companies;
- Prepare IFRS 17 accounts and disclosures for insurance companies;
- Develop, price and review insurance company products;
- Insurance reinsurance program optimization;
- Support reinsurance division with end year review of reinsurance statistics;
- Prepare reinsurance program certifications for insurance companies;
- Prepare and present actuarial reports to clients;
- Develop financial sector governance policies related to risk management and investments;
- Provide IFRS 9 disclosures for financial sector companies relating to credit risk modelling;
- Project healthcare costs for corporate clients and assess the potential financial impact of proposed benefits to corporate medical schemes;
- Check member statements and member benefit calculations for defined benefit schemes;
- Calculate projected benefits for defined contribution schemes;
- Pension scheme actuarial valuations & IAS 19 actuarial valuations;
- Prepare reports for internal use; and
- Check data for reasonableness and completeness.
Business Development
- Grow business in line with set budget;
- Develop and manage a credible and effective sales pipeline;
- Preparation of competent proposals to RFPs and RFQs and presentations to prospective clients; and
- Ensure that every sales opportunity is actively followed up, and recorded, to maximize the levels of new business conversion.
Credit Control
- Invoicing as per company policies, processes and procedures.
- Follow up payments for the work done within agreed company timelines.
- Perform of any other relevant duties that may be assigned by the line manager
Key Result Areas
- New business revenue generation in line with budget.
- Quality Service.
- Completion of internal and external client projects within agreed timeframes.
- Accurate and up-to-date actuarial valuations.
- Credible reports for internal and external usage.
- Debt collection within 60 days.
Key Competencies
- Experience in the use of actuarial software, VBA and MS Excel.
- Time management skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Report writing skills.
- Presentation skills.
- Analytical skills.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge And Skills Required
The job holder must possess:
- A Bachelors degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Commerce or any other relevant field. A master’s degree would be an added advantage.
- Passed at least 10 actuarial professional exams in an international recognized actuarial institute. Fellowship would be an added advantage.
- At least 5 years relevant experience
