Job Purpose
To provide specialized care for adults with neurological disorders, integrating diagnostics, medical therapy, and multidisciplinary rehabilitation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage epilepsy, stroke, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, headaches, demyelinating and neurodegenerative disorders.
- Interpret EEG, EMG/NCS, and neuroimaging; coordinate additional diagnostics where required.
- Provide inpatient consults, acute neurology input, and outpatient clinics.
- Develop individualized treatment and secondary prevention plans.
- Collaborate with neurosurgery, rehabilitation, psychiatry, and internal medicine as needed.
- Participate in guideline development, audits, and quality improvement.
- Teach and mentor trainees in adult neurology.
- Engage in research and registries in neurological disorders
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
- MMed in Internal Medicine from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
- Fellowship/sub-specialty training in Neurology recognized by KMPDC.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Recognition as a specialist/sub-specialist by KMPDC.
- Retention in the KMPDC register.
- Valid Practice License from KMPDC.
- Valid Indemnity Cover.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
